Based on the excitement that Windows 8 is bringing, the long lasting haemorrhaging Nokia is hoping that the bad days will come to an end. Stephen Elop, now Nokia CEO, who came from Microsoft, is hoping that the new operating system that Microsoft is bringing, will replace the old Symbian, making the competition with Apple and Google better balanced.

Microsoft just unveiled the next big step in its mobile software, Windows Phone 8. Codenamed “Apollo, as we expected last week here. One huge change in WP8 is the shared core. This means that Windows Phone 8 shares the kernel, drivers, security, graphics and more with Windows 8 Yesterday, Microsoft together with the Microsoft Windows 8 Surface tablet, they announced and the Internet explorer 9 Improvements and official release. High-definition videos are smooth, graphics are clear and responsive, colors are true, and websites are interactive like never before." click to enlarge After days of speculation and rumors, Microsoft's major announcement has just been unveiled at a press event in Los Angeles: a Surface tablet. There will be two options for Microsoft's Surface PC, one powered by Intel's 22nm Ivy Bridge chips running Windows 8, and another Surface powered by an ARM chipset and Windows RT We have now the pictures and the presentation video together with both tablets specifications. Windows Mobile was the predecessor of Windows Phone and these two operating systems should not be confused, because the operating systems are completely different: they are not part of a same continuum of operating system development and thus Windows Mobile cannot be updated to Windows Phone. Windows Mobile has been discontinued. In February 2010, Microsoft announced Windows Phone to supersede Windows Mobile, incompatible with Windows Mobile devices and software. Microsoft's biggest upgrade of the Windows Phone operating system is coming up at some point later this year Rumored to be codenamed Windows Phone 8 Apollo. Samsung is coming to create until next year a Facebook-like social network. The new social network, code named “Samsung Facebook”, is said to be an eventual competitor to Facebook that would be accessible on smart phones, cameras, and televisions. The Korea Times cites a Samsung official who says the company hopes to launch its social networking service to compete with Facebook. |
