The information about a Samsung Galaxy S 3 exploding is the kind of news that spreads with rapidity all over the internet. The quite intriguing incident occurred in Ireland.
A phone that was attached to a car mount started suddenly to burn with white flames. Dillo2k10, name under which the phone owner is known in the media, is not harmed and got a new Samsung S3, while the burned one was sent to the company’s headquarters for investigating.
Although some Samsung owners might worry that the overheating might destroy the proper function of the phone, for the moment it remains an isolated incident. Samsung released an official statement on their official blog:
"There have been recent on-line posts displaying pictures of a Samsung GALAXY SIII that appears to have heat-related damage at the bottom of the device. Samsung is aware of this issue and will begin investigating as soon as we receive the specific product in question.
Once the investigation is complete, we will be able to provide further details on the situation. We are committed to providing our customers with the safest products possible and are looking at this seriously."
The reason that made the phone to explode remains unclear for the moment, as the battery comes with 2, 100mAh, which should be enough for a device with a screen of 4.8-inch and a processor of 1.4 GHz quad-core. One hypothesis is that the white flames might have appeared while charging, although the owner said that the phone was not charging at the moment of the incident. Another possibility is that the phone burning was due to a combination generated by the S3’s car mount/accesory and the vehicle’s heating system. Anyway, until a valid conclusion, it looks that Samsung Galaxy S 3 is hot in the media not only in the metaphorical way
